I like to keep the receipts, or at least copies of them, and even pictures of the clothes.

Legit charities should be able to give a receipt for tax purposes. If the value of $ 250 or more, you can have a problem, because the IRS can use a "assessment will," or something, so I would say that the fragmentation of the financing of over $ 200 and / or several days. With photos and income, must withstand a challenge, but then you never know with the tax authorities.

Many aid agencies to help Out There - business or goodwill, Army Hello, shelters, and more likely to qualify, and numerous thrift stores that support their work.

Goodwill "around my house has seen a drop-off area. It is the only one here to get a receipt. Do you have stores of the Army Hello from the second hand around your house?" Maybe if you one of the workers and you ask?

Is the camp? If so, please visit the IRS publications, such as reporting the fact that it is not listed as part of the cost of goods sold is too.

Yes, you will receive a receipt blank when you ask, for example.

It is your responsibility to determine the "market value" of items for tax purposes.

Most charities give you a basic package. This does not help you on your taxes if they can prove, as in Appendix A.
